Move the screen by holding down the left mouse button on the galaxy, then move the cursor around.
Create links between planets to interact with them. By linking one of your planets with a hostile one, you can attack your enemy by clicking on the hostile planet. By linking between two planets that you own, you can move units by clicking on the planet you want to move one unit to. Hold down the left mouse button to speed up the process.
To link between planets, click on your planet and drag a line towards the planet you want to do something with. There needs to be a connection between the two to be able to connect.
Years back, I started working on, what I had hoped to be, a strategy game for my mobile phone. I learned how to work with J2ME and hammered out a little game that I could play. It was basically Risk in space with a randomized galaxy. One thing I wanted to focus on was creating a non-cheating AI. Overall, the project came together nicely and I sincerely enjoyed playing the game on the train, but once I started thinking about distributing the game, it all came crashing down. This was in the time before any App Stores, and the game wasn’t really programmed properly to work on different machines. When I got a newer mobile, interest in the project waned.
However, when I started to get an interest in HTML5 and got my hands on ImpactJS, I decided to resurrect this project as a webgame, which is what you can see on top of this page. For the controls, I decided to go with a similar scheme that you can see on any mobile device from Apple, so most things are accomplished by clicking and dragging.
It was an interesting experiment to work on, and I’m glad to have it finished.
(30-12-2011) Gave the user interface an elaborate update while learning JQuery Mobile. Also made a small changes in preparation for an eventual update with DirectCanvas for the mobile update.
(6-12-2011) If you leave this page while in the middle of a battle, you will be able to continue where you left off, been wanting to add this for a long time. Also did some tinkering with the background, but still a work-in-progress.
(31-8-2011) I did some tinkering for the past few weeks to make this game mobile-friendly and playable, as well as some small additions like small JQuery animations. Also added some code so that you don't start next to another player in a game, although I will likely require to take a closer look at it later.
Balance is incredibly off, and you can start off in an un-winnable situation. Music and sound effects would also be nice.
